Resting energy & TDEE
Explore an adult resting-energy estimate and activity scenario.
How this works
Resting energy estimate = 10 × kg + 6.25 × cm − 5 × age + coefficient (+5 male / −161 female). TDEE scenario = resting estimate × entered activity multiplier. US-mode inputs are converted using exactly 0.45359237 kg per lb and 2.54 cm per inch. Original metric inputs remain unchanged. Energy can be displayed in kcal or kJ using 4.184 kJ per kcal; activity presets substitute the selected scenario multiplier.
Example
The illustration may use different inputs from the reproducible default inputs listed below.
At age 30, 75 kg, 175 cm and the male coefficient, the equation estimates 1,699 kcal/day at rest. A 1.4 activity assumption gives about 2,378 kcal/day; this is not a recommended intake.
- Metric weight (used in metric mode)
- 75 kg
- Metric height (used in metric mode)
- 175 cm
- Age
- 30 years
- Equation coefficient
- Male coefficient (+5)
- Custom activity multiplier (used with Custom)
- 1.4 multiplier
- Body measurement input mode
- Metric — kg and cm
- US weight (used only in US mode)
- 165.3466966386582 lb
- US total height (used only in US mode)
- 68.89763779527559 in
- Activity assumption
- Custom — use editable multiplier
- Energy result unit
- Kilocalories (kcal/day)
- Estimated total daily energy expenditure
- 2,378 kcal/day
An approximate energy-expenditure model, not a calorie prescription or weight-loss target. Activity multiplier is your assumption. Input mode: metric (kg/cm). Changing input mode does not change either set of entered measurements. Activity labels are scenario assumptions, not measurements.
Scope and assumptions
For adult educational use only. Not for pregnancy, breastfeeding, minors, illness or clinical nutrition decisions. The original equation has limitations and individual needs vary; consult a qualified professional for personal targets.
